As much as I'd love to see Blackgate finished, I just don't think its going to happen... Each new update he adds less story and its been copy and past too! Someday I might make my own mod of it and finish the story myself.
It does not share saves, since too much was altered for this to be feasible. As also mentioned, saves have a chance of breaking between versions of this as well, as much may still change in the early parts of the game.
Click the patreon link above, scroll down a bit, look for the section called "About Bane" . That window pane has the versions to download. Click "show more" at the bottom of that section to expand all of the download options.
I have acquired a newer device, replacing very old device. New one uses current andrdoid version, old one uses very old android version. Both of my devices can install and play the game without trouble. I don't have enough information to know why one would be unable to download. Perhaps security settings, or not enough storage space to save the file.
All renpy engines using version 7.4+ now require 64-bit android. If you have a *very* old device, it is possible this is the cause.
I love the new animations, especially the title screen as well as Gruff actually shooting a gun and Jack sitting in one of the interrogation chairs.
I'm definitely looking forward to more!
However, I've noticed that after the interrogation scene, the music is absent for the rest of what I've played through so far (up to the shower scene after training) is this a glitch? It doesn't render the game unplayable, but the music definitely helped set the tone of the situations.
Oh, wow. You're right. It's a rather significant oversight. Coupled with what was reported below (missing 'fixes'), I think I accidentally included the wrong set of original files with the package.
I have not completed as much as I want for a next release, however, this is worth fixing. I think I will post an update which includes a fix for this, a more finished interface + android version, and a few little updated details... Will do soon.

This version, here on itch, is a very early 'prototype' of a modified version of the original game. Only the introduction and Library through end of night 4 are 'modded' currently, rest is original game. I, too, think the story is interesting and hope the full game is eventually finished. The human keeps pushing forward into strange, unexpected landscapes.
I've got more done in several other areas, but only first drafts, want to get more done before posting further.

Yeah, that's right. The original was an older version of renpy. The newer renpy includes a better base interface and some basic 3d engine capabilities that allow effects I wanted to use in the visual stuff. The parts of the game I haven't edited yet are not changed at all, so some of the minor typos or bugs will still be there, but the game-breaking ones are fixed, like crash on basement route* and jump to wrong character on construction. * oops, actaully I didn't fix that in the post.. whoops. It's fixed now, for the next post.
He's just publishing the game coded in a newer version of Ren'py, there's nothing different. What I find suspicious is why he wants us to support Bane, this whole page feels like a trap to me. I wrote a comment to warn people and he didn't reply or remove the link to Bane's Patreon.
I seriously hope this guy won't turn of the comments, because yes, that's an option and one itch should remove.
I won't say it has not at all been your fault, you were responsible for yourself. However, Bane tempting you and everyone else with "updates" is the one in need of a once-over. Especially after what will soon perhaps turn to a decade old furry visual novel project.
At this moment, the plan is working on the existing game and story, as mentioned in the description. I like the game, too, and started working on this for fun, heh.
I don't know. I just played until day 6 with Malo, day 8 with Gruff and day 10 with Krane that I didn't reach the end of it yet. But have many options that stop in "To be continue".

You can't find the date on his Patreon page, unless you probably go back all 301 posts. Okay, after researching for a bit, it turns out Bane is *working* on Blackgate for at least 7 years now. If you don't believe me, go back a few posts and read the comments. Why a few posts, you may ask? It's simple, Bane removed the option for non-patrons to comment on his posts not long ago. Now nobody of those who were betrayed as his former patrons can warn newcomers anymore. The problem we face is, his game is still being updated, but only ever so slightly, and his Patreon is not down. (I'm truly wondering why Patreon hasn't removed his account already...) Comparing Blackgate to projects like Project Aego, B101 (most likely abandoned as Hroft32, the artist, is working on Rusty Punk for some reason, unless RP is abandoned too), Dino Nite (probably down), Crescendo (also dead?), Starry Chain (will be missed), Cold:Non-Linear (likely gone), Disguise (cancelled), Stranded (not ceased?), When Stars Fall (please god no!) or other abandoned furry visual novels, you can see they unfortuantely don't really exist anymore, only in name or on Hiatus.
Again, thank you for the gesture... but just don't encourage others to support scammers... I suggest you remove the link and the quote above, even though including credits should in any case be mandatory. Or do what I do and at the very least warn people, we don't want others to fall victim to Bane's Patreon, correct? That I know Maxiess is the B101 creator. Hroft32 is the artist he hired to create the art. That I know no one know what happen to Maxiess si ce two year ago?

Can saw Morenatsu is in that way. Abandoned, redone and reabandoned again. So after years someone help it and it get new art. I am just waiting to it be abandoned again. Maybe.

The other team is working on Santa Lucia and have a Patreon set up. Both parties seem legit, serious about finishing their respective projects. However, those are obviously my words and I don't work with them. In any case, hopefully we won't have to add two more FVNs to the "Abandoned" list type.
The original topic, Blackgate, can pretty much be considered dead. What seems strange to me is why he at all is still writing anything. After all the community harbors a lot of distrust or rather resentment towards him. The extra bit of pocket money doesn't make much sense, unless he's gaining new patrons...

The developer opened the code after stopped in its last update, with the wolf guy friend of the bear route had been finished in the second version. (Why second version. Because some already finished routes was lost in that.)
I really never understood why he had to redo some routes that are finished in the 1st version that just vanished in the last. As the raccoon and husk. But since I already played most all routes until the end in the old versions I only waited for the tiger, lion and dog friend's of the lion routes.
Anyway that the 1st Furry Visual Novel I read in my life. Now I think the coder that was working in its last version is in that team doing that new renewed. But the guy that created that team keep saying he is mentally bad so that why I think something gonna happen.
I understand that they recreated all art to not be locked with the main artists if they need redo some stuff when need. But with that the development become very slow. Anyway I like that it have a version for iPhones and iPads. It is rare to see stuff like that in there. I only have 3 furry novels in my iPhone.
I remember following Blackgate and while for the first few years it was very interesting (and with a great story) my understanding is that many people stopped supporting it because there was minimal content with the dev effectively just rewriting the same parts again and again and there hasn't been new art in a fair while.
Now what IS there is very good and if you are into furry art, the art is top tier.
Ok, now that I've played the demo of the original I can see some improvement here, particularly in the use of Ren'Py. Not sure what the original was made with, but Ren'Py is much better suited to it.
Also, I have a feeling that one of the characters having the same name as the one I gave my character is going to be confusing...
Really? Was it an older version of Ren'Py? The UI is totally different. I know the UI can be modified, but in this case there was no reason to because the default UI fits the game much better.

Yes. Blackgate is Ren’Py. You can check the Roaming Data for Ren’Py if you want solid proof yourself.
I didn’t think it was Ren’Py until I stumbled upon it in my Roaming Data.
Will there be an android version?
Yes. The interface required redesign for renpy update. This also requires manually creating a mobile version, which is not yet complete.
You can emulate the Windows version with JoiPlay for now.
Did joiplay patch the bug that caused renpy games to crash on startup?
